The Munificent-class star frigate, commonly referred to as the Banking Clan frigate or mostly known in the Clone Wars a Separatist Frigate, was a warship used by the InterGalactic Banking Clan and by extension the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Armament Edit

The Munificent-class star frigate had massive forward guns which could blast-melt an ice-moon measuring 1,000 kilometers in diameter, or pierce the shields of a 10 km-wide Grade III battle station. As a result, it was a danger even to Venator-class star destroyers, and six or seven of them could outgun a Venator or Victory-class star destroyer. The Munificent had an amazing array of heavy laser cannons, a pair of large ion cannons, and dozens of PDL and flak guns.

The Munificents were also combat-communication ships, which assisted with the navigation and coordination of Separatist fleets deep in hostile space. Powerful antennae channeled hyperwave supralight transceivers, while jamming devices hindered enemy sensors and targeting systems.

Complement Edit

The Munificent carried 150,000 battle droids for boarding or ground operations, and were capable of shielding droid starfighters within its hulls. A series of docking rings lined the sides of each ship. In the forward hollow areas, war material could be stored for transfer, while in peace times, they were used to transfer valuable financial assets. Hanger bays were positioned in the middle of some models. These ships were also heavily shielded and could withstand significant firepower until destroyed.

History Edit

These ships once guarded banker's vaults on Outer Rim worlds and menaced planets heavily in debt to the InterGalactic Banking Clan. With the onset of the Clone Wars, they were added to the Confederate Navy where they became a staple, numbering in the tens of thousands, and where they escorted and coordinated Separatist fleet actions such as attacks on the interstellar HoloNet relays, which consequently blinded and isolated Loyalist forces.

Like the other ships of the Confederate Navy, the Munificents bore the blue-and-white emblem and paint scheme of the Confederacy, though sometimes they also bore the green stripes of the Banking Clan. Towards the end of the war, thousands of Munificents participated in the Battle of Coruscant. The Confederacy took advantage of the star frigate's powerful antennae to broadcast anti-Republic propaganda while using its jamming devices to hinder enemy sensors, targeting systems and distress signals.

Later use Edit

After the Clone Wars ended, many crews took their Munificents past the reach of the Galactic Empire. Some vessels later ended up in the Alliance to Restore the Republic, where many ships were extensively modified to the point where they barely resembled their original design.
